Make It Monday-Halloween Treats for 18" Dolls

Make it Monday Oct 29th

For today’s Make it Monday Craft, I wanted to show you an easy way to use items you may already have to create Halloween treats for your dolls.

To make today’s Halloween treats you will need:
-tin foil (aluminum foil)
-cardboard
-scissors
-tape or glue stick
-Halloween Stickers
-Paper (I used scrap book paper) construction or scrapbook paper
-a ruler
-a pencil

Step 1- Measure and cut out your cardboard these will be the base for your chocolate treat. You will need to measure 1 ½ inches by 1 inch for each treat.

Step 2- Cut some tin foil from the roll and cover each cardboard treat

Step 3- Cut out some paper to be the wrappers of your treat bars. Cut the strips of paper 1 inch by 2 ½ inches wide.

Step 4- Wrap the paper around your foil covered treat.  Glue or tape it into place. Choose Halloween Stickers to become the labels. Stick to you treats and you are ready to give them to your dolls when they trick or treat!

For today’s post I used my My London Girl Doll Olivia wearing a cat costume by Skippysmom. The pumpkin treat bucket is from my local dollar store. The back ground is the Yellow historical room made by American Doll Rooms http://www.americandollroom.com/

Make it Monday-Halloween Hair Bands

Make it Monday October 15th 2012

Halloween is right around the corner and while I was at Wal-Mart I found the most adorable candy corn duct tape. Their small design made me think they would be perfect for making Halloween Hair bands for our dolls. This craft can be done with any Duck tape and can be made in a group or party setting for very little investment.

To make your own Halloween Hair band for your doll you will need:
-Duck tape (I used Candy Corn print)
-3/4 inch elastic, you will need 4 inches per hair band
-scissors
-a ruler
-you doll to wear the hair band.

Step 1- Each 18 inch doll head requires a hair band that measures 10 inches around.  So you will need to measure and cut 4 inches of elastic and 6 inches of tape.
Step 2- Lay your tape sticky side up and place one end of the elastic on the end. Fold over one side of the tape towards the middle. Carefully bend the other end of the elastic to the other end of the tape creating a circle as you go, fold over the the remaining tape to secure the elastic ends in place.

Step 3- reinforce the elastic where it meets the tape with another small piece of tape as shown in the photos above. Make sure to wrap the tape so that the folded edges are on the underneath of your hair band.

Step 4- Place the hair band on your dolls head and make some for your friends!

Halloween Witch Hat - FREE Pattern

So halloween is my favorite Holiday, my house is decorated all over and I decided my dolls need a little fun too. I have always thought this was a cute pattern but never tried it, so today I pulled out some leftover fabrics and feathers and voila !
Cute hat for my Kit doll. (Click on the picture and you can see all the details better)

So the feathers are from Hobby Lobby, and the little green spider button is from JoAnns in their dollar pile. (4/$1.00) They have other colors too.

It was a very quick sew, and would also make a cute shelf decoration for a
Halloween setting,
or a great party favor for an
American Girl Doll Halloween Party.

Happy Sewing !

Make It Monday-Jewellery Box Craft

Make it Monday- Jewellery Box for your dolls

One of my favorite crafts is an altered match box. Today I wanted to show you how you can make your own Doll Sized Jewelry box to store your dolls best jewels!

To make today’s craft you will need
-1 empty match box or create your own from this tutorial http://blog.swap-bot.com/rachels-matchbox-template/
 -Tape or glue stick
-ruler
-pencil
-scissors
-scrapbook paper
-1 brad
-4 faux pearls (pony beads work just as well)
-glue gun
-nail or push pin
-* optional ribbon and scrap book slider

Step 1- Measure the outside of your match box on your paper. Use a ruler and pencil to mark your paper. Cut out and wrap the outside of the box. Tape it into place or use a glue stick

Step 2- remove the inside box or drawer from your box. Cover the end edge of one end of your drawer with scrapbook paper. Tape or glue into place.

Step 3- Use a nail or push pin to poke a hole through the center middle of the drawer front for the drawers handle. Remove the pin/nail and replace with a brad. On the inside of your drawer fold the arms back as shown. Replace the drawer in the box.

Step 4- Attach four beads or faux pearls to the bottom of the box using hot glue. Let dry.

Step 5- Optional decorate your box further, I used a piece of ribbon and a scrap book slider,( you could used stickers or more beads if you liked).  Add a dab of hot glue in the center and place your ribbon belt over press down. Turn box over and glue belt ends to the bottom of the box.

Once dry and secure, fill your dolls new Jewellery box with her favorite jewels.
I look forward to sharing more doll crafts with you soon.~ Karen Owen aka Karen Mom of Three.
