Make It Monday! No Sew Holiday Cape Or Choir Costume

Karen here with today's Make It Monday Craft. My dollar store had the most amazing sparkle mini tree skirts that I knew would make the perfect holiday cape or choir costume with just a few easy snips! Today I want to show you how you can make your own for your dolls.
All you need to make your own is your doll, a pair of sharp scissors and a $2 mini tree skirt. My dollar store had these in so many colors the blue was stunning as well.

Step 1- Undo the plastic ties from the package and open your tree skirt.
Step 2- Undo the ribbon ties and place the tree skirt around your dolls neck.
Step 3- Re tie the ribbons then lay your doll down.
Step 4- Fold the skirt down around your dolls shoulders and use your fingers to measure a two inch piece of the skirt down from the shoulder and carefully cut a slit on each side for your dolls arm.
Step 5- Slide your dolls hands through the slits and your cape or choir robe is ready. I paired my cape with a holiday dress that had a ruffle collar, you could just use a piece of dollar store lace and tie it in to place as well.

I hope you enjoyed this weeks Make It Monday craft and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Make It Monday! Make A No Sew Monogrammed Felt Shrug For Your Dolls!

Karen here with my No Sew Felt Monogrammed Shrug for your dolls! This is easy to do with a bit of felt and a low temp glue gun you can make these fun accessories for your dolls and they make a great party craft!

To make you own you will need:
-A low temp glue gun with glue stick
-Felt and Scrap for Monogram
-Scissors
-Pencil
-Paper
-Your Doll

Step one lay your doll on a piece of paper and make a rough out line of a pattern. You will need to make the pattern much larger then the outline you create but it is a great guide. Give your self lots of space in the pattern so that when you put the shrug on your doll it will fit around her sides!

My pattern is 9 inches across the top, 7 1/2 inches at the bottom and the sleeves are 3 inches from the top to the bend in the arm.
Step 2- Place the pattern on your felt and trace it with a pencil. Plug in your glue gun to warm it up.

Step 3- Cut out your shrug from the felt and pencil markings you have made. Cut up the center of the front of the felt and then try the shrug on.

Step 4- Remove the felt shrug from your doll and re line up the edges. Along the under arm curves place a thin line of glue and press the piece together. Repeat on the other side to create your shrug.

Step 5- Cut out a Letter (the first name of your dolls name, I used Samantha so I cut out an S) and add glue to the back and press it into place on the outside of your dolls shrug, on the left hand side jus above where her "heart" would be.

Once it is dry you can put it on your doll!
I hope you liked today's craft and I look forward to sharing more craft ideas on our next Make It Monday!

Make It Monday! Let's Make Foam Teacups & Saucers

Karen here and recently I saw a lovely photo on Facebook of a garland of teacups made from Styrofoam balls as decoration for a tea baby shower. I thought it would be fun to try to make them but as usable doll play teacups! So using fun foam I had on hand and two Styrofoam balls I made a set of 4. These would make lovely party crafts and take home gifts.

To make your own you will need:
-Fun Foam
-2 small Styrofoam balls
-A knife and a grown up to cut the balls in half
-8 short straight pins for sewing
-Scissors
-Pencil
-Small lid to trace a saucer circle on

Step 1- have a grown up cut your foam ball in half along the center seam on your Stryofoam ball. This works best with a knife with teeth like a saw! Have them cut both balls in half.
Step 2- Cut a 1/4 inch strip from the fun foam by 8 inches. Then cut that piece into 4 equal parts.
Use two push pins to secure the teacup handle on the side of your foam ball, repeat on each ball.
Step 3- Trace a circle twice the size of the foam cup. I used a small lid of a jam jar. Cut out 4 to be the saucers of your tea cups.

Now your tea cups are ready for play!
I hope you have fun making teacups for your dolls!
I look forward to sharing more doll play crafts with you again soon!

Make It Monday A Dolly Life Jacket!

Karen here with a fun Make It Monday Craft, A Life Jacket you can make for your dolls.
To make your own you will need.
-A Padded Mailing envelope (10 inches at least)
-A Pencil
-A Marker
-Scissors
-Your Doll
-A Velcro Dot
Step 1- Gather all your supplies and lay your envelope flat. Place your doll on top of the envelope with her neck at the sealed end. Trace her body on the envelope, under her arms and mark where her neck is. Draw a straight line down the center of the envelope at the next line as shown in the photo above.
Step 2- Move your doll and connect the lines you have made so that they resemble a vest. Carefully cut the arms out from the bottom to the top, then cut out the neck. I traced my doll so that the vest will be waist length. Cut straight across the evenlope to create the length of the life jacket.
Step 3- Use your scissors and cut up that center line, be sure to only cut one layer.
Your vest is now ready to try on your doll.

Step 4- Place the vest on your doll and use your eyes to see where you would like to attach the velcro dot. Remove the backing and place on sticky side down and then place the other dot on top and press the top of the vest into place.
Step 5- Use your marker to draw on buckles and a badge.
Now your Dolly Life Vest Is Ready to play with!
***Please note to do not ever really put your doll in the water unless her body is full plastic. It can wreck your doll. This is a pretend life vest and will not save your doll from the water.

Make It Monday! Let's Make A Raised Vegetable Garden For Your Dolls!

Karen here and now is the perfect time to start planting and growing your own food. Urban gardens are becoming very popular where I live and people are building their own raised garden beds to grow their own vegetables and fruit. I thought it would be fun to make a raised vegetable garden for your dolls using items you may already have at home in your own craft boxes.
To build a Raised Vegetable Garden for your dolls you will need:
-One Pop Tart ot Tea Box (empty)
-Popsicle Sticks
-Leaves from artificial flowers
-1 tooth pick
-1 small piece of paper
-1 piece of brown felt or fun foam
-1 glue gun
-2 glue sticks
-Scissors

Step 1- Gather all your supplies and plug in your glue gun.
Step 2- Make sure the end of your pop tart box is sealed shut, you can use glue for this.
Step 3- Start at one end of your box and add a line of glue, then press in to place a Popsicle stick.
Step 4- Continue all the way around your box.
Step 5- Trace the outside of your pop tart box ( I used a second box) with a pen and cut out your "dirt" for the planter.
Step 6- Lay it in place inside your planter box.
Step 7- Use a small piece of paper to make a garden marker. My sign says Lettuce and I drew a small lettuce plant. Glue the paper to the tooth pick and then glue the tooth pick to the inside of the planter where ever you wish.
Step 8- Start removing the leaves from your artificial flowers and then bunch them together using a bit of glue as you go and then glue them to the felt in your planter box. You can use all the same leaves or you can use a verity which I had on hand in my craft box. Fill the planter as much or as little as you like.
I hope you enjoyed today's craft and I look forward to sharing more doll crafts with you again soon. If your doll would like to add the Little Ladybug outfit to your dolls wardrobe like my doll was wearing today you can check out this outfit on Daydream Doll Boutique's shop page by clicking here. ~
