Make it Monday- Make A Costume Box For Your Dolls With Phoomph For Fabric!

Happy Monday! Karen here to share with you a fun and easy way to create a Costume Box for your dolls to hold all your Make it Monday Costume Crafts! I used some Phoomph for Fabric which is a very fun and easy to use craft product from Coats & Clark.
To make your own Costume Box you will need:
-1 empty pop tart box (or a tea box will work as well)
-1 sheet of Phoomph for Fabric from Coats & Clark
-Scissors
-Fabric in a pattern you like (a fat quarter or scrap fabric work really well)
-Ribbon
-A Ruler
-A Pen or pencil
-A piece of tape
Step 1- Gather all the supplies you will need. Use a piece of tape to close the open top of your box as shown in the photo above.
Step 2- Use a ruler to find the middle of your box, use a pen or pencil to make a marking in the middle of your box all the way around.
Step 3- Use your scissors to cut your box along the line you made creating two equal boxes. Put them aside.

Step 4- Peel back the white paper backing from one side of your Phoomph for Fabric sheet. Then lay your fabric right side up on top of the sticky Phoomph exposed side. Smooth out your fabric so that no wrinkles appear, you can easily remove your fabric and smooth as you go if you have large wrinkles.
Step 5- Turn your fabric covered Phoomph sheet over. Place your box on it's side on your Phoomph and use a pen or pencil to trace each side.
Step 6- Cut out your shapes from the Phoomph.
Step 7- Remove the backing from your cut out shapes and stick them on the sides of your box all the way around. Trim as you go if needed.

Step 8- From the remaining scrap covered Phoomph Create handles for your costume box.
Remove 1 inch of backing from each of the Phoomph covered scrap on each end of your strip and bend and pinch into place on two sides of the box as shown above.
Step 9- Create a bow for the front of your box with ribbon and use a small piece of Phoomph to attach the bow to your box.

Now your box is ready to fill!

Inspired By Pinterest: American Girl 18" Doll Sock Bun Tutorial

I see those cute sock buns all over Pinterest, in fact I loved them so much, I made one for my daughter and I out of some socks I bought. We wear our sock buns all the time and they are easy and always look nice. So I decided our dolls could use a cute sock bun too. How hard could it be right ?

Smaller head, smaller sock..... and it worked !

Making the Sock Bun:

Ten inch sock , cut off toe
(I used some socks that no longer had a pair)

Gently roll up from the cut off end
Stretch and smooth as you go along until you have a donut

You can either hot glue the edge down gently or
slip stich in place.

You are now ready to do your dolls hair.
I like to put it in a high ponytail, then place your donut at the ends of the ponytail
Roll down slowly tucking in the ends and smoothing as you go.

And you will end up with a perfect sock bun.
Our models Noelle and Lauren look great with their sock buns
and are now ready to relax.

Depending on how much hair your doll has that will determine the size
of the finished bun,
as you can see in the picture below.

Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to stop by Thursday as we will be posting our newest Giveaway.

Make It Monday! Make A Duct Tape and Tulle Tutu For Your Dolls

Karen here and today I wanted to show you a quick and easy way to make a tutu for your doll using duct tape and tulle.
To make your own you will need:
-1 roll of duct tape, I used Duct Tape from www.consumercrafts.com
-1 roll of tulle
-Scissors
-A Ruler or Tape Measure
-A Button I used a Laura Kelly Button from buttons galore & more
- A needle and thread
- A stitch ripper
- Your Doll

Step 1- Assemble your supplies. Open your duct tape roll.
Step 2- Lay out your tape measure, ruler on a flat surface so you can easily unroll measure and tear your tape
Step 3- Measure and tear a strip of duct tape from the roll at 12 inches. Lay it flat on your surface.
Step 4- Measure and unroll 35 inches of tulle from your roll and cut.
Step 5- Fold your tulle over at 2 inches this will give your tulle more volume when you attach it to the tape.

Step 5- Press one end of the folded tulle at the edge of the tape and  fold and gather it with your finger as you go all the way to the end of the tape.
Step 6- Fold over the top edge of the duct tape and press along the gathers.
Step 7- Thread your needle and knot the ends. Select your button. On one end of your tape band about 1/2 inch in from the end, sew on your button.
Step 8- On the opposite side use a stitch ripper to make a button hole 1/2 inch from the other end of your tape band, make your slit going away from the edge of your tape band, make it the width of the button.
Step 9- Try out your button hole. Make sure the button slides through the button hole.
Step 10- try your tutu on your doll and you are ready to dance!
