Make It Monday! A No Sew Holiday Dress For Your Doll.
For today's Make It It Monday Post I wanted to show you an easy way to create a no sew holiday party dress for your doll using items from the dollar store or your odd sock drawer.
To Create your own "Off the Shoulder" or "Mock Neck" Dress you will need:
- 1 long sock
-Scissors
-Your Doll
-Buttons and Ribons
-Glue or sewing needle and thread
Step 1- Lay out your sock near your doll and "eye" where you want the dress hem to be. Make a cut along the line the unfinished edge will be the skirt bottom hem.
Step 2- To create an arm hole or two make a small snip about 1 inch from the cuff of the sock for an arm hole. If you want an off the shoulder look skip to step 4.
Step 3- If you would like to have a mock neck dress make another arm hole on the opposite side.
Step 4- Use trim, Ribbon, Yarn, Buttons you have on hand to dress up your holiday dress. The sky is the limit! Glue or hand sew buttons into place and tie a bow with left over ribbon you may have.
I hope you enjoyed today's post and that you have a very enjoyable Holiday Season I will be back with more doll play Make It Monday Crafts in 2014! ~ Karen Owen aka Karen Mom of Three

Make It Monday~ A Doll Trunk For The Mini Dolls
Today For "Make It Monday" I wanted to share with you a fun and easy way to make
a great Doll Trunk for the mini dolls using a wooden trinket box from the
dollar store and Rit Dye.
To create your own Mini Doll Trunk you will need:
-A wooden trinket box from the dollar or craft store
-Liquid Rit Dye of your choice, I used Dark Green and Cherry
Red
-Foam Brush
-Glass jar or craft container for the dyes
-Cotton Swabs
Step 1- cover your work space and assemble your supplies.
Step 2- Pour a small amount of your Rit dye into your glass
bowl or craft container. A little goes a long way!
Step 3- Use your foam brush to spread one of the dye colors over
the areas of your wooden box you wish to color, leave clear the area you wish
to color with your second dye choice. This is pretty quick drying as the wood
is very thirsty.
Step 4- Once you have colored all the areas of your box you
want colored with the first dye, pour your left over dye back into the bottle
for another use.
Step 4a- Using your second dye, pour a small amount of the
dye into a craft container or use the inside of your dye lid. As you are only
using a small amount you may find that this is enough for your accent color.
Step 5- Use cotton swabs to fill in the small corners and
the front of your chest as shown in the photos above.
Step 6- Let dry completely and fill with your mini doll’s
treasures!
I love working with Rit Dye and wood is only one of the
things you can use liquid Rit dye for. It is easy and fun to use. Give it a try
with your craft items and see what I mean!
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and I look forward to
sharing more dolly craft ideas with you soon~ Karen Owen aka Karen Mom of Three
