We are so excited to get back to our fun craft posts. Here's another fun one from Karen. I am so excited to see the crafts she thinks up for us this year. So be sure to join us every other week for Karen's Make It Monday creative posts. Enjoy !

Make it Monday Post January 14th

Today I want to show you how to make an easy hair band for your dolls from a recycled water bottle, this fun and easy craft would make a great party activity or a great party bag favour.

To create your own hair band you will need:
-A water bottle with the label removed
-scissors
-1/4 inch elastic from the sewing section of your local fabric, craft or big box store, you will need 6 ½ inches of elastic for each hair band.
-fun foam stickers or embellishments for your hair band
-a push pin or hole punch
-a ruler or tape measure
* You can make up to three hair bands for your doll from one water bottle.

Step 1- Using your scissors, cut the top of the water bottle where your label once was. I used children’s safety scissors for this with ease.
Step 2- Use your ruler or your tape measure to mark all around your bottle at 1 inch as shown in the photo above.

Step 3- Use your scissors to cut down to your marked line on the plastic as shown in the photo above, then continue to cut your hair band shape from the bottle. Your finished product should look like the letter “C”

Step 4- Use your ruler to measure ½ inch in from each edge of your letter “C” then poke  a hole in the center at the ½ inch mark. This will be where you will insert the elastic. You may need to make three holes in the plastic, around the center to make it large enough to pull the elastic through. Cut 6 ½ inches of elastic.
Step 5- Feed the elastic through the hole on one side, so that the knot you will tie will be on the inside of your letter “C”, once through tie a knot. Repeat on the other side. As shown in the photo below.

Step 6- Once your hair band is formed you can decorate your hair band with stickers.
Then you can try it on your doll.
